Improperly installed child safety seats can cause serious injury or even death for young kids involved in traffic accidents. That’s why it’s so important to have your safety seat checked. The Albany County Traffic Safety Program has been hosting free events for over 20 years to help parents and caregivers protect kids in motor vehicles. Over the years, we’ve found hundreds of seats not properly installed. At our last large event in September, we checked 36 car seats.  None were correct. We replaced four that were either expired, damaged, recalled or otherwise inappropriate for use by a child.  

The free child safety seat checkup event will be held on Saturday, June 12 from 11:00am - 2:00pm at the Crossgates Mall Overflow Parking Lot on the Western Avenue side. No appointment is needed.

The event is in partnership with Albany County, Capital Region Safe Kids and Crossgates Mall.
