Members of the Albany County Legislature are returning to the Harold L. Joyce Albany County Office Building tonight for the first in-person committee meetings since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020.

With the lifting of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s State of Emergency last week, the executive order allowing meetings to be held remotely has also been lifted. As a result, the Legislature will begin meeting in person, including its regular monthly meetings in the William J. Conboy II Legislative Chambers at the Albany County Courthouse starting July 12.

“The work has never stopped during COVID-19 but our Legislators are ready to be back together, collaborating face to face and continuing the hard work of the County,” Chairman Andrew Joyce said. “While we are excited to see this return to normalcy, we must remember that COVID is still a threat. We will continue to do our due diligence to ensure that our members and the public remain safe, and discussions are ongoing as we enter this transition.”

The Albany County Legislature’s Public Works, Social Services, and Conservation, Sustainability and Green Initiatives Committees will meet tonight starting at 5 p.m. respectively in the 7th floor Caucus Room of the Harold L. Joyce Albany County Office Building, 112 State St., Albany. Committee meetings are also scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. All meetings are recorded and posted online.
