Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy provided the latest report on the county’s progress on administering and distributing vaccines and controlling the spread of the Coronavirus. As of yesterday, 65.9% of Albany County’s population has received at least the first dose, and 61.5% has been fully vaccinated. More information on vaccination rates can be found at the New York State COVID-19 Vaccine Tracker at the link here

County Executive McCoy announced that the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Albany County is now at 24,547 to date, with 18 new positive cases identified since yesterday. Please note that our overall case count will fluctuate as CommCare records are transferred in and out of the county. Albany County’s most recent seven-day average of percent positive rates is still 1.7%, and the Capital Region’s rate is now up to 1.9%.

Among the new cases of COVID-19 identified in the county, eight had close contact to positive cases, two reported traveling out of state, eight did not have a clear source of infection and none are healthcare workers or residents of congregate living settings. There are now 67 active cases in the county, up from 58 yesterday. The number of people under mandatory quarantine is now up to 83 from 78. So far, 80,239 people have completed quarantine. Of those who completed quarantine, 24,480 of them had tested positive and recovered, an increase of nine recoveries.

The County Executive reported that there were no new hospitalizations overnight, and four county residents are now hospitalized – a net decrease of one. There are still no patients currently in ICU’s. There were no new COVID deaths to report, and the death toll for Albany County still stands at 388 since the outbreak began.

“I’m happy to hear that we continue to get more and more people vaccinated at our pop up vaccination clinics throughout the community, including the one we hosted yesterday at Swinburne Park in a partnership with the Black Nurses Coalition, Capital District Latinos and the City of Albany,” said County Executive McCoy. “Vaccines are safe, they’re free and they’re the best protection against COVID and the dangerous variants. I look forward to continuing to offer opportunities to get the shot, including daily at our Department of Health and through our free delivery service.”
