Albany County Legislature launches medical supply drive in support of Ukraine
Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Albany County Legislature has been proactive in voicing its support for the sovereign country and ramping up efforts to help its citizens.
On Thursday, the Legislature announced it will hold a medical supply drive from March 25 to March 31 to help offset the burden Ukraine is facing as hospital and medical buildings continued to get destroyed.
Collection boxes have been set up at the Harold L. Joyce Albany County Office Building, the Albany County Courthouse and MVP Arena. The collection is in partnership with St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church in Watervliet who will be shipping all items collected overseas.
“The Albany County Legislature stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. The Ukrainian people have fought back against Russia's unprovoked, violent invasion with fearlessness and strength. Now, it’s time for us to put our words of support into action as we partner with St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet to get desperately needed medical supplies to the people of Ukraine,” said Albany County Legislature Chairman Andrew Joyce. “To the people of Ukraine, the hope and prayers of all in Albany County march along with you in your fight for freedom.”
