Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy encourages residents who have unused or unwanted prescriptions to safely dispose of them at local collection sites on National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 29th.  

Opioid addictions are often started with prescription medication found in medicine cabinets and the majority of people who misuse them get access from their friends or other family members. The risks from taking pharmaceutical drugs can be just as dangerous as streets drugs when they’re taken without a doctor’s supervision or without a prescription. Safely disposing unwanted or unneeded medication can help prevent addiction.
