Albany County Public Works Dept. Announces Upcoming Closure of New Scotland Road (SR 85) in Slingerlands
As work continues on the Albany County Rail Trail Bridge Replacement Project in Slingerlands, the Albany County Department of Public Works announced today that they will need to close both lanes of State Route 85 in either direction beginning Friday, June 30 at 10am through Monday, July 31 at 6am. New Scotland Road will be completely shut down to traffic in the immediate vicinity of the Rail Trail Bridge (between Kenwood Avenue and Mullins Road). Traffic will be detoured over Cherry and Kenwood Avenues during this portion of the project.
During this time, the drainage issues that have existed under the previous bridge will be addressed. The complete road closure will shorten the overall length of time of the project and help ensure the safety of motorists and construction workers alike. Once this portion of the construction is complete, the eastbound lane of SR 85 (New Scotland Road) will reopen on WEEKDAYS, from 6:00AM to 10:00AM ONLY. SR 85 WILL BE CLOSED ALL OTHER TIMES, INCLUDING WEEKENDS until further notice.
The Albany County Department of Public Works thanks local residents in advance for their patience and understand as this important work continues. For new updates on this project in the future, please visit the Albany County website at the link here.
