Albany County is helping to raise awareness about heart health in honor of American Heart Month. Today, Deputy County Executive Michael McLaughlin, Jr. unveiled a new reusable bag featuring a design created by 12-year-old Aedan Conway from Delmar. He has linked heart health to a healthy environment.

Aedan was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means that half his heart didn’t develop. He lives with three chambers of a heart, rather than the usual four.  He has had three open-heart surgeries, the first when he was just a few days old. Now in 6th grade, Aedan skis, plays baseball, and is part of the Empire State Youth Orchestra Chamber Percussion Ensemble. He is a member of the Cardiac Kids 518 group.
