Post Date:02/26/2024 8:52 am

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy, MVP Health Care President & CEO Chris Del Vecchio and the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District have announced the return of the Albany County Farmers Market. It has been expanded and will run each Sunday from July 14th to September 29th, from 10am to 2pm on South Pearl Street in front of the MVP Arena.

“Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, and with the help of our partners at the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District and MVP Health Care, the Farmers Market has grown into a weekly event this year,” said Albany County Executive McCoy “This will provide even more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy locally-sourced produce and other products while supporting local business.”

The Farmers Market series is supported by the Innovation Fund, a partnership between Albany County and MVP Health Care. The purpose of the fund is to improve the overall health and vitality of the surrounding community. The fund also promotes the MVP Arena as a marquee asset to the community by supporting healthier, inclusive, and expanded opportunities.

At MVP Health Care, we know that healthy food is good medicine, which is why the Farmers Market is vital to improving the overall health and well-being of our community,” said MVP Health Care’s President and CEO, Chris Del Vecchio. “When we launched the Farmers Market last year in partnership with Albany County and the Downtown Albany BID, we did so to further invest in our mutual commitment to building healthy communities. We are proud to offer an expanded Farmers Market this year to provide access to non-traditional health and well-being options while also supporting local businesses, artists, and entertainers.”

“With the success of last year’s market series, our community showed us that this market is quickly becoming a valuable resource for our residents, and an attraction for visitors. We look forward to offering even more fresh, affordable, locally farmed produce, meat, dairy, and other staples as well as delicious baked goods, ready-to-eat meals and beverages from local vendors, while widening this platform for local artists and makers to showcase and sell their products. The BID thanks the County Executive and MVP Health Care for recognizing the need for this market and dedicating the necessary resources to ensure its continued growth and prosperity,” said Downtown Albany BID Executive Director, Georgette Steffens.

Parking will be free at the MVP Arena Parking Garage on Beaver Street.
