Sincere Cancer Pleads Guilty for Role in Death of Destiny Greene

Post Date:04/16/2025 4:30 pm

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 22-year-old Schenectady man admitted guilt for his role in the shooting death of Destiny Greene, a 15-year-old Shaker High School student.

Sincere Cancer pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree in front of the Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court Wednesday.

On the night of May 24, 2021, Cancer was with a friend, Brandon Rivera, who set up a Facebook Marketplace sale with plans to commit a robbery. Greene was sitting in a car on Wilbur Street around 9:05 p.m. when the duo opened fire on the car. Greene was struck and later died at Albany Memorial.

Rivera was sentenced in January 2023 to 25 years in state prison for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree. Cancer will be sentenced to a 25-year determinate prison term followed by five years of post-release supervision when he is sentenced on June 18.

Greene’s family members were in the courtroom Wednesday when Cancer admitted he was one of the shooters. He stopped and told the family, “I’m sorry for your loss,” as he was led out by Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon prosecuted the case.
