Man Arraigned on Two Separate Drug Cases

Post Date:04/09/2025 4:30 pm

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 26-year-old Albany man has been arraigned on a seven-count indictment for possessing drugs and fighting with police.

Isaiah Matos was arraigned in Albany County Court Wednesday in front of the Honorable Thomas Marcelle on an indictment that charges him with:

  • Assault in the Second Degree
  • Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree

On Jan. 14, Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies encountered Matos during a traffic stop at North Lake Avenue and Second Street and allegedly found a drug scale and a quantity of cocaine and suboxone inside his vehicle.

On April 1, Albany Police stopped a vehicle driven by Matos in the area of Philip Street and Wilbur Street and allegedly found another scale and a number of baggies containing cocaine, crack cocaine and fentanyl. While being placed under arrest, Matos broke free and ran from police, tossed a bag of drugs, and later fought with police as they attempted to arrest him, injuring an officer in the altercation.

Matos was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility. If found guilty of all charges, he faces up to 24 years in state prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Marissa Olsen of the Street Crimes unit.

ALL DEFENDANTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN OTHERWISE.
