Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 61-year-old Schenectady man has been arraigned for recording photos and videos of a person without their knowledge.
Joseph Munafo was arraigned Tuesday in Albany County Court in front of the Honorable Roger McDonough on an indictment that charges him with 11 counts of Unlawful Surveillance in the Second Degree.
Police allege that Munafo took photos and videos of an acquaintance, recording the intimate body parts of the victim over several days from July 2023 to October 2023 and at several locations in Albany and Colonie.
The victim observed Munafo in the act of recording videos and reported it to Colonie Police, who arrested him in January 2024 when he turned himself in. Munafo was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court on May 16. If found guilty, he could face from 10 to 20 years in state prison.
Assistant District Attorney and Special Victims Bureau Chief Ariel Fallon is prosecuting the case.
