Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that an 18-year-old man from Troy has been charged for two separate shooting incidents in the span of eight months.
Christian Keith was arraigned in front of the Honorable Andra Ackerman Wednesday on an indictment that charges him with two counts of Attempted Murder, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.
On July 30, 2024, Albany Police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street and found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.
The victim, who survived, was rushed to Albany Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. Police learned through interviews and video surveillance that Keith was a suspect in the shooting but they were unable to locate him.
On March 11 at around 1:45 p.m., Albany Police responded to Lark Drive near Manning Boulevard for reports of shots fired and discovered that an individual had fired a gun at a person inside a vehicle.
Shortly afterward, Albany Police detectives observed a vehicle used by the suspect to flee and conducted a traffic stop in the area of Sheridan Avenue and Chapel Street. Keith was taken into custody without incident.
On Wednesday, he pleaded not guilty and was released on $100,000 bond.
Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
