Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that an Albany man will serve time in state prison for possessing an illegal firearm while on parole.

Michael Myrick, 26, was sentenced by the Honorable William Little Thursday to serve eight years followed by five years of post-release supervision for pleading guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C armed violent felony.

Myrick was on parole for a 2018 conviction on gun charges when Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested him on Sept. 16, 2024, at his home on Clinton Avenue as a part of a parole visit.

According to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office, Myrick was in possession of a loaded .22-caliber handgun.

Assistant District Attorney and Bureau Chief of the Street Crimes Unit Bryanne Brucato prosecuted the case.
