Albany County Legislature Awards over $130,000 to 15 Organizations Supporting Public Health, Safety, and Community Development

Legislature CDF Grants Group 2025

ALBANY, NY – The Albany County Legislature awarded over $130,000 to 15 local organizations on Friday to enhance community development and public health and safety.

Funding is from the Albany County Community Development, Public Health, and Safety Fund Program that is specifically aimed toward county senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, veterans and youth. These programs provide individuals with education, recreation, wellness, guidance, support, and career development opportunities.

Awardees include:

Albany Rowing Center

Boys & Girls Club of the Capital Area

Can Code Communities

Capital District Center for Independence, Inc.

Center for Law and Justice

Chabad Center – Albany

Grassroots Givers

Green Island Senior Citizens, Inc.

In Our Own Voices

International Youth Fellowship Albany

Life Path Supportive Services for Older Adults

Maimonides Hebrew Day School

Shalom Food Pantry

The Salvation Army

Underground Railroad Education Center

Albany County Legislature Chairwoman Joanne Cunningham said: “Each of these organizations is doing indispensable work throughout Albany County. These programs are built by dedicated, compassionate, and inspirational people who care deeply about everyone in our County. We are proud to support them and strengthen their ability to connect with neighborhoods and positively affect lives.”

Albany County Legislature Deputy Chairwoman Wanda Willingham said: “We are supporting these partner organizations because they have deep roots connecting them to communities throughout Albany County.  We are committing to those who are best equipped at strengthening the bonds of our communities. Organizations like these bridge the gaps and always show up for everyone in Albany County, especially those who have been underserved and marginalized. We are honored to be part of their journey, and to be their teammates, as we work together.”

Albany County Legislature Democratic Majority Leader Dennis Feeney said: “The Community Development, Public Health, and Safety Fund Program reflects the Legislature’s commitment to directing targeted resources toward organizations that are delivering meaningful results. By investing in these efforts, we are supporting the ability of local partners to serve Albany County residents with accountability and impact.”
