Post Date:11/13/2025 2:00 pm

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 30-year-old man has admitted to stabbing a teen in the neck following a verbal confrontation in the parking lot of the Cohoes Burger King.

Angel Morales pleaded guilty Thursday in front of the Honorable William Little to Assault in the Second Degree for an incident that happened on Aug. 4, 2024.

Cohoes Police responded at around 10:40 p.m. that day to reports of a group of people fighting in the Burger King parking lot. The brawl spilled out onto New Cortland Street. When police arrived, they found a 16-year-old male bleeding heavily from a six-inch gash in his neck.

The teen was rushed to Albany Medical Center Hospital and received nine stitches.

Cohoes Police with the help of the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center were able to identify and track Morales’ vehicle after the incident. He was arrested on Aug. 14, 2024, and admitted to being at the scene with a knife.

Morales will be sentenced on March 5 to seven years in state prison followed by two years of post-release supervision.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato, Bureau Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, prosecuted the case.
