Albany Man Sentenced to State Prison For Armed Robbery

Post Date:11/13/2025 4:30 pm

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 42-year-old man has been sentenced for robbing a popular convenience store in Albany.

Andrew Jackson was sentenced in front of the Honorable Richard Mott Thursday to serve 12 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Attempted Robbery in the First Degree.

Jackson was arrested for a Nov. 8, 2024, incident when he walked into the Pine Hills Market on Hudson Avenue at around 1:30 p.m. He grabbed a Twisted Tea can from the cooler and placed it on the counter, and when the cashier informed him of the amount he owed, Jackson told the man to empty the register.

Jackson pulled a gun from his waistband and told the cashier he’d shoot him if he didn’t comply. He made off with $200 cash, but left behind the Twisted Tea.

Albany Police dusted the can for fingerprints and a match came back positive from the Division of Criminal Justice Services’ database identifying Jackson, who had a previous robbery conviction out of Pennsylvania in 2017.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
