Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 39-year-old Albany woman has admitted her guilt for a midsummer stabbing that nearly took the life of another woman.

Kinyetta Gordon pleaded guilty Friday to Assault in the First Degree in front of the Honorable Roger McDonough.

On July 19 at around 4:55 a.m., Albany Police received reports of a stabbing near Lexington Avenue and First Street. Shortly after, a 36-year-old female victim entered Albany Memorial Hospital with significant stab wounds to her neck and back area. The victim was stabilized and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery to save her life.

Albany Police located and arrested Gordon at Albany Medical Center Hospital, where she was receiving medical treatment for a cut to her hand. A second victim was also located with a cut to her hand, which was sustained while attempting to break up the altercation.

Gordon, who was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility, will face a range of eight to 12 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision when she is sentenced on Jan. 30, 2026.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
