Man Found Guilty in First Deed Theft Trial in Albany County History

Post Date:12/12/2025 12:00 pm

Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 49-year-old Guilderland man who forged a deed in an attempt to take ownership of a home he was renting was found guilty on all counts Thursday in what is believed to be the first deed-theft trial in Albany County history.

Jorge Luis Mangual Vincente was found guilty Thursday of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree (property value exceeding $50,000), Offering a False Instrument in the First Degree, and Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree after a three-day trial.

The jury deliberated for just over an hour.

Assistant District Attorney Bill Andrews of the Financial Crimes Unit prosecuted the case alongside Special Prosecutor Christopher Baynes of the New York State Attorney General’s Public Integrity Bureau.

“We are using every tool in the arsenal to secure justice for victims in our county, whether it be for violent crimes, white-collar offenses or fraud,” DA Kindlon said. “And growing our partnerships with state and federal partners is just one way we can expand our reach into an evolving criminal world that uses advanced techniques to steal and defraud.”

On April 4, 2024, Albany County Sheriffs served a 14-day notice to Vincente to vacate the property he was renting in Guilderland with his family, as Deutsche Bank had recently informed him of its desire to sell the property at 14 Rizzo Lane, which was valued at $755,000.

Vincente filed a false deed with the Albany County Clerk’s Office using personal information he stole from his step father, while also providing a fake address for a fraudulent bank. That address turned out to be a small business location in Guilderland.

When Sheriffs retuned on April 25, Vincente handed them copies of the fraudulent paperwork.

Andrews and Baynes, along with trial assistant Ashley Rizzo, called on 11 witnesses, including Albany County Sheriff’s investigators and deputies, a Deutsche Bank representative, a banking expert, a Guilderland assessor, and Albany County Clerk’s Office representatives, among others.

Vincente was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility and faces up to 10 years in state prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 19, 2026.

This is the second deed-theft case the Albany County District Attorney’s Office has handled this year. Roalynda Langley was sentenced in September to five years probation and ordered to pay $31,453 in restitution for three properties she attempted to steal in Cohoes last year.
