Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that the 19-year-old Albany man who struck and killed 93-year-old Charles Allendorph with his vehicle on a Cohoes Street is heading to state prison.
The Honorable William Little sentenced Kemaury Everett Tuesday morning to serve five to 15 years in state prison after pleading guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree.
On Aug. 18, 2025, Cohoes Police responded to the intersection of Congress and Newark streets at around 9:45 a.m. for reports of a pedestrian hit by a car. Everett struck Allendorph with his vehicle and then backed over his body as witnesses yelled for him to stop. Everett then fled the scene.
Albany Police discovered Everett’s vehicle unoccupied in the area of Dove and Elm streets. He was located at his home nearby and was arrested.
Assistant District Attorneys Collin D’Arcy and Katherine Miller of the Vehicular Crimes Unit prosecuted the case. D’Arcy said the case was marked by a collaborative effort from the Cohoes Police Department, Albany Police Department and the New York State Police, who worked quickly to identify Everett within a few hours of the event.
“He was a beloved member of his community, and will be missed by them,” D’Arcy said of Allendorph. “A number of people who weren’t even involved in this case came out in support.”
Everett apologized to the court before sentencing.
“I’m sorry to the people who lost him,” he said.
