Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 22-year-old Saratoga Springs man has admitted to robbing an acquaintance and then attempting to get the man to drop the charges.

Daevon Gaillard pleaded guilty to Robbery in the Third Degree and Tampering with a Witness in the Fourth Degree in front of the Honorable Andra Ackerman Monday morning just minutes before he was set to go on trial.

On July 11, 2025, Gaillard advertised on Snapchat that he was selling a PlayStation video game console. An acquaintance contacted the man and the two agreed to meet in the Dave and Buster’s parking lot at Crossgates Mall at around 7:30 that evening.

When the victim began to count out $200 for the Playstation, Gaillard tried to rip the money from his hand. When he was unsuccessful, Gaillard displayed what appeared to be a handgun in a backpack and the victim relinquished the cash. Gaillard left the scene with both the money and the console.

Guilderland Police arrested Gaillard on July 24, 2025. While he was incarcerated in Albany County Correctional Facility, Gaillard made multiple phone calls to third parties directing them to make contact with the victim to influence him to drop the charges in exchange for financial compensation.

Gaillard was remanded to the custody of ACCF and is set to be sentenced on Aug. 27 at 2 p.m., when he is expected to receive a state prison sentence of two and a third to seven years.

Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon of the Major Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case.
