Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 50-year-old Albany man has admitted to robbing a store with a knife last November.

Willie Buxton pleaded guilty to Attempted Robbery in the First Degree in front of the Honorable William Little for an incident that occurred on Nov. 26, 2025.

At around 8:10 a.m. that day, Buxton entered the Xtramart at 247 New Scotland Ave., displayed a knife and demanded money from the store clerk. The victim handed over $300 from the register and Buxton ran off.

Albany Police were able to locate Buxton, who has multiple felony convictions, and arrested him two weeks later.

Buxton will be sentenced on Sept. 10 at 9:30 a.m. as a persistent violent felony offender and will face a state prison term of 16 years to life.
