Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 47-year-old Troy man will be serving a state prison sentence for assault.

Bradley Bova was sentenced by the Honorable Andra Ackerman to serve five and a half years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Attempted Assault in the First Degree.

On Aug. 15, 2025, Bova was involved in a verbal dispute with a female just before 11 p.m. at the Cumberland Farms on Ontario Street in Cohoes. The woman left the area and alerted a Good Samaritan on Breslin Avenue to help. The man saw Bova approaching and yelled at him to leave the area. Bova pulled a hammer from a backpack and threw it at the man, striking him in the face and causing serious injuries that required hospitalization.

Cohoes Police later arrested and charged Bova. Then on March 22, while he was awaiting sentencing, Bova attacked a fellow inmate at Albany County Correctional Facility. Bova was originally slated to serve four years but received an enhancement on his sentencing due to the second attack.

Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon and Ryan Carty of the Major Crimes Bureau prosecuted the case.
