Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 44-year-old Albany man has been charged for the shooting death of Iris Vasquez, 39.

Vance Mims was arraigned Wednesday in front of the Honorable William Little on an indictment that charges him with Murder in the Second Degree, Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

Albany Police allege that Mims shot Vasquez on July 5 at approximately 1:24 p.m. as she was inside her car in the area of 290 Washington Ave.

Mims’ wife, Glenda Barrett, 43, of Voorheesville, was charged with Hindering Prosecution in the First Degree. She pleaded not guilty and was released on her own recognizance.

Mims pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Joseph Meany and Assistant District Attorney Erin LaValley are prosecuting the case.
