Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 40-year-old Hudson man has been sentenced to state prison for wielding and firing a gun on Henry Johnson Boulevard.

The Honorable William Little sentenced Michael Johnson to serve nine and a half years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after he pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

On Oct. 19, 2024 at around 9:10 p.m., on-duty Colonie Police Officers who had just left Albany Medical Center Hospital were driving a marked patrol unit in the area of Henry Johnson Boulevard and Clinton Avenue when they spotted Johnson on foot firing a handgun at an occupied vehicle stopped in the roadway.

Officers quickly detained Johnson and took him into custody in the area of First Street and Henry Johnson Boulevard. Albany Police later located a loaded Taurus 9mm handgun close by.

Additionally, Johnson was in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine. The vehicle that Johnson fired upon fled the scene and no injuries were reported.

Assistant District Attorney Bryanne Brucato, Bureau Chief of the Street Crimes Unit, prosecuted the case.
