Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon announced today that a 34-year-old Albany man who attacked two employees at the Wolf Road Taco Bell after trying to steal food orders with his girlfriend has been convicted by a jury.
Ahmad Morton was found guilty after a five-day trial in front of the Honorable William Little of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and two counts of Burglary in the Second Degree.
The jury deliberated for four hours and returned the verdict late Tuesday afternoon.
On Nov. 9, 2025, at 11:32 p.m., Morton and Aryonna Rivera, 21, entered the Taco Bell at 56 Wolf Road in Colonie and began collecting mobile food orders while posing as DoorDash employees. When staff asked for proof those orders were theirs, the two began attacking them.
Joseph Brucato, Assistant District Attorney and Bureau Chief of the Major Crimes Bureau, and Kayla Meagher, ADA with the Street Crimes Bureau, prosecuted the case and called on nine witnesses, including Colonie Police and the victims.
They showed the jury multiple videos of the attack from footage captured by restaurant security cameras. When a female employee began pressing the pair for proof, Rivera jumped over the counter and began fighting with her. A male employee attempted to intervene, but Morton began beating the man and then stabbed him in the head.
“This is the price of bravery,” Brucato said as he played the clip.
The man required seven sutures.
Colonie Police responded to the scene and after a brief police chase, the duo abandoned their white Mercedes on Central Avenue. They were found and arrested a short time after at Days Inn Hotel.
Morton, who was remanded to the custody of the Albany County Correctional Facility, will be facing up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced on Oct. 6. Rivera pleaded guilty to attempted Burglary in the Second Degree on April 30 and will face a three-year prison sentence followed by three years of post-release supervision.
