County Executive McCoy Announces Annual Traffic Safety Awareness Show & Car Seat Check
In honor of Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy will once again be hosting the Albany County Traffic Safety Awareness Show & Car Seat Check at Crossgates Mall.
“At last year’s event, our team checked 135 car seats and only one was installed correctly. That’s less than 1% of all seats inspected. On top of that, 21 seats had to be replaced because of recalls, damages or expirations. This is a pattern we see year after year and it should be a wakeup call to every parent out there with precious cargo,” said County Executive McCoy. “I’m happy Albany County will be able to provide families with this important resource again, albeit with added precautions in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
The Traffic Safety Awareness Show will be held on the first floor near Verizon Wireless in Crossgates Mall, on Saturday, September 26, 11am to 7pm; and Sunday, September 27, 11am to 6pm. The car seat check will run Saturday only from 11am to 2pm in the in the Overflow Parking Lot adjacent to Homewood/Tru by Hilton at Crossgates.
Over the weekend, participants will be educated on the dangers that exist on the road and best practices for traffic and child passenger safety. The events are free, and masks and temperature checks will be required of participants. The Albany County Department of Public Works Traffic Safety Program is sponsoring the event.
