County Executive McCoy Reminds Residents to Sign Up for Rabies Clinic on World Rabies Day
On World Rabies Day, Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy encourages county residents to sign up for two upcoming rabies clinics being offered by the Albany County Department of Health. Rabies vaccinations will be offered to dogs, cats and ferrets on the below dates and at these locations for those who pre-register ahead of time:
Saturday, October 10
1pm – 4pm
Bethlehem Town Park
Elm Avenue, Bethlehem
Saturday, October 24
1pm – 4pm
Ford Motor Company Lot (corner of George St. & Tibbets Ave.)
Village of Green Island
“Dogs and cats aren’t just animals, they’re members of the family. Despite having to delay these clinics due to the pandemic, Albany County remains committed to protecting the companions of our residents and in doing so, also protecting any residents who may get bitten and have to deal with this potentially deadly disease,” said County Executive McCoy. “We know vaccinating 70% of dogs breaks the infection cycle and that rabies is 100% preventable. Let’s continue working to make that a reality with these two clinics.”
Please note that on both dates, 1pm to 2:30pm is reserved for cats and ferrets, and
2:30pm to 4 pm is scheduled for dogs. All animals must be at least three months of age and kept on leashes when they arrive. A suggested donation of $8.00 per animal will be used to compensate the Companion Animal Medical Center for their partnership.
Face masks or coverings and social distancing will be mandatory, and pre-registration is required. You can register at the below link. If needed, assistance with registration or any other inquiries can be directed to the County Division of Environmental Health Services (518) 447-4620 or (518) 447-4625.
