County Executive McCoy Provides Update on COVID-19
Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy today provided an update on the situation surrounding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) alongside County Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen. There are now 25 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Albany County. Additionally, at this time, there are 125 people under mandatory quarantine and 450 people under precautionary quarantine.
“Based on what we’ve seen since just yesterday – ten new cases, spanning the age range, including a 7-year-old – we’re urging people of all ages to take this situation seriously, to practice social distancing and to abide by the regulations that have been put in place,” said County Executive McCoy.
“Additionally, based on our mapping and tracking, there are no discrete clusters or particular community that this is disproportionately affected. As we continue to monitor the situation, we will work with Governor Cuomo’s Office to consider mass closings and tighter restrictions to stop the spread of this virus and keep people safe,” he continued.
If you are placed under precautionary quarantine, the County Health Department warns that it is absolutely essential that you abide by those guidelines and remain in your home to prevent the spread of this virus. If you do not, it can and will be changed to a mandatory quarantine that is legally binding.
