Albany County, NY
Home MenuBy taking a few hours a week, I can make a difference as a Sexual Assault Hotline Advocate.
I can answer calls from people who need to talk to someone after hours.
I can accompany a victim to the hospital and provide support during a critical time.
I can educate friends, neighbors and colleagues about preventing sexual violence.

Our volunteers are trained & certified
The Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center uses volunteers as sexual assault crisis hotline counselors.
Volunteers complete an intensive training program which prepares them for crime victim advocacy on the 24-hour sexual assault crisis hotline.
Upon completion of a thirty-five hour training sequence Sexual Assault Crisis Hotline volunteers become certified by the NYS Department of Health as Rape Crisis Counselors and provide advocacy and support to sexual assault victims on the phone and in the Albany County hospital emergency departments and police stations.
