The Division of Affirmative Action administers these programs on behalf of Albany County, promoting equal opportunity for disadvantaged businesses as well as minority and female labor in all contracting activities.

The Division offers a variety of services to the Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) community, including outreach efforts to publicize County requests for proposals, solicitation of DBE participation on contracts, and certification of Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MBE/WBE). We believe that the full participation of socially and economically disadvantaged individuals in the free enterprise system is vital to achieving social and economic equity and enhancing the local economy.

Additionally, the Division monitors County contracts to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates. Contractors are informed of Albany County’s Anti-Discrimination Policy and are required to make a good faith effort to adhere to the regulations set forth in Resolution No. 26, adopted by the Albany County Legislature on June 10, 1996.

The Division of Affirmative Action actively recruits qualified women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans to fill current and future job vacancies within Albany County. Employment decisions are made based on merit, education, and experience, ensuring a fair and consistent application process.
