At the Albany County Veterans Service Bureau, our mission is to honor and support the nearly 20,000 veterans and their families who call Albany County home.

We are committed to ensuring that every veteran is aware of and has access to the state and federal benefits they have earned through their dedicated military service.

Through advocacy, guidance, and personalized assistance, we help veterans and their dependents navigate the claims process, secure essential documents, and obtain benefits such as medical care, disability compensation, pensions, education assistance, burial support, and VA home loans. By facilitating access to these resources, we not only improve the lives of our veterans but also contribute to the economic well-being of Albany County.

Our dedicated team stands ready to support veterans through every step of the process—from application to adjudication and appeals—ensuring they receive the recognition and assistance they rightfully deserve.

Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214)

The Veterans Service Bureau can also help get copies of a veteran's medical and personnel records, including Certificates of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD Form 214).

The Albany County Veterans Service Bureau—along with other veterans' agencies throughout the County—is instrumental in obtaining thousands of dollars annually from the Federal Government due to claims that are filed, submitted and approved by the NYS Regional Office in New York City. This direct benefit from the federal government is a major boost to Albany County’s economy.
